Complete Guide to All Races in Type Soul
Choosing a race is one of the most important decisions in Type Soul. Each race offers a unique playstyle and progression path. This guide will break down the differences between Soul Reapers, Hollows, and Quincies to help you find the perfect fit.
Soul Reaper (Shinigami)
Soul Reapers are protectors of the balance between worlds, wielding Zanpakuto—swords that are manifestations of their own soul. They are a versatile class with a focus on swordplay and Kido spells.
Progression Path:
- Academy Student: Your journey begins here. You must complete missions and increase your proficiency to graduate.
- Shinigami: Upon graduation, you officially become a Soul Reaper. Your main goal is to unlock your Zanpakuto's true power.
- Shikai: The first release of your Zanpakuto. You must meditate and successfully battle your Zanpakuto's spirit to achieve this. It unlocks new, powerful abilities.
- Bankai: The final and most powerful release. Achieving Bankai is a long and difficult process, requiring you to master your Shikai and conquer your Zanpakuto's spirit once more in a high-stakes battle.
Playstyle:
Soul Reapers are generally well-balanced. Depending on their Shikai and Bankai abilities, they can be close-range fighters, long-range specialists, or Kido-based mages. This is the most flexible race choice.
Hollow (Arrancar)
Hollows are monstrous spirits driven by an insatiable hunger. Their path is one of evolution, consuming others to become stronger, eventually shedding their masks to become powerful Arrancars.
Progression Path:
- Hollow: You start as a basic Hollow. Your goal is to survive and consume other Hollows.
- Menos Grande: After reaching a certain point, you evolve into a giant, slow-moving Menos.
- Adjuchas: By continuing to consume others, you can evolve from a Menos into a smaller, more powerful Adjuchas, regaining your individuality. You must continue to feast on other Hollows to avoid regressing.
- Vasto Lorde: The pinnacle of Hollow evolution. Only a select few Adjuchas can reach this state, which is said to rival the power of a Soul Reaper Captain.
- Arrancar: By partially removing their mask, a Hollow can become an Arrancar, gaining Shinigami-like abilities and a Zanpakuto. Their release form is called a Resurrección.
Playstyle:
Hollows are typically aggressive, high-damage dealers. They rely on overwhelming power, with abilities like Cero (a powerful energy blast) and Sonído (high-speed movement). Their gameplay is a high-risk, high-reward "food chain" simulator.
Quincy
Quincies are spiritually aware humans who can absorb and weaponize spiritual particles (Reishi). They are natural rivals to Soul Reapers and specialize in long-range combat.
Progression Path:
- Human: You start as a human with latent Quincy powers.
- Gemischt Quincy: You awaken your powers and learn to form a basic spirit bow, the Heilig Bogen.
- Echt Quincy: Through training and combat, you master the manipulation of Reishi, unlocking advanced techniques.
- Vollständig: The ultimate Quincy form. This angelic transformation grants immense power and advanced abilities, far surpassing a normal Quincy's capabilities.
Playstyle:
Quincies are the archers of Type Soul. They excel at keeping enemies at a distance while unleashing a barrage of spirit arrows. They possess unique defensive abilities like Blut Vene (strengthening defense) and offensive boosts like Blut Arterie. Their high-speed movement technique is called Hirenkyaku.
